Just the fact that I want something is not enough.

How the results are shown have significance. we would have to generate a web of trust in which promises are accomplished in order to have authority.

The point of writing is not about teaching something that is completely new, but rather, it gives new perspectives while explaining concepts in term of others.

Our experience flows evenly, all our actions have a purpose. — Tarthang Tulku

Patience taught me how to relax and wait for things to come. It was the best antidote to anxiety poisons.

It gave me hope when it was the only thing I had. It taught me how to use troubles in my favor.

Why is patience so important?

I find patience a practical tool in overcoming the confused and materialistic approach of life that we are used to experience.

Like the seasoning in food, patience is the secret ingredient that turns life rich and fulfilling.

We all know what it is to be patient, but now it’s a time of constant rush, and we often leave it behind. We forget our practice and feel overwhelmed by the consequences of doing it.

Patience is a friend that gives us time to enjoy our experiences, to go deep in our involvement with everything we do.

Notice that patience is different than meditation. To meditate is to connect with our inner senses, while reflecting the mind, like in a mirror.

We may be grumpy, unstable, or too critical, but patience accepts these qualities and takes care of us at a deeper level

With patience, we can face the future with confidence, because our senses are fed and satisfied in the present moment. Even when facing obstacles throwing a shadow over our path, we can have the security that patience overcomes all.

Patience has to be trained like a muscle.

What happens is that we became used to technology’s ability to solve problems with small or no effort at all.

Technology made us lazy.

There is little issue in that if we balance things out. But while talking about our natural choices, we should not compare a human body with an iPhone full of apps ready to solve problems in a miraculous productivity approach.

We usually don’t know how to balance technology, we are addicted to it.

But don’t feel bad. You are not alone. The human body has its own cycles, its own mysteries.

When it is trained, patience gives back our powers to act, instead of reacting to every image and problem that comes up. Grows bigger when exercised.

We Are the Universe Becoming Aware of Itself.

In order to realize some secrets, we must learn the virtue of patience. It has the potential of huge insights into our lives if we master it properly.

Generally speaking, patience is the 5 seconds between a poor decision and a smart one. Life teaches us how to grow, but our minds fire thoughts and expectations on top of everything.

And then we want the results. And we want them fast.

We expect something as an outcome of our actions. But not always it means that life brings what we want.

We have to wait for the right timing, the right variables to be in order. We have to see the materialistic desire of the mind to get pleasure and satisfaction.

“The balanced energy of patience irradiates a cordial and productive attitude from our hearts to every other aspect of our existence” — Tarthang Tulku

So, how can we actually develop our patience?

The idea of strength and trust is directly associated with this virtue.

Start noticing this 3 simple aspects of yourself when facing a problem, and just be aware of them.

  1. Breath: When facing a problem, it’s really important to notice our breath. Because it can become heavy and abrupt.
  2. Body: Our body movements become uncertain and confused.
  3. Emotion: We are overwhelmed by anxiety and discouragement if we don’t accomplish what was planned.

Society considers patience as a sign of passivity, weakness or lack of intelligence. As it can be slow and sometimes indirect, we often choose to don’t consider the value of it, making a line of action that is faster or easier.

In our impatience, we act like spoiled children that believe they will always get what they want, in the moment they want…

As the conflicts appear, we get lost in our escapist fantasies.

Instead of facing our problems with honesty taking decisive measures to change it, we give up.

Usually.

But there is always room for change.

What helped me along my journey was to be conscious that I couldn’t control every aspect of reality. I could only observe.

Try to change, not judge.
